The cotton origin does not necessarily result in fine cotton for custom dress shirts. A combination of fine grade cotton, how finely the yarns are spun, the quality of weaving and the finishing of the cotton all contribute to the caliber of the end result cotton.
Most of the world’s fine cotton for custom dress shirts, including the cotton that we use at NELSON WADE is grown and harvested in Eqypt or the Sudan. It is generally considered a higher grade cotton than our American grown Pima cotton.
Sea Island cotton is considered the best shirting cotton in the world for custom dress shirts. The cotton is grown in the West Indies, but the supply of cotton for custom dress shirts is limited.
